Login help for the Library Catalogue/Library account
From 12th February 2024 all library account holders including UC staff, students and faculty, and registerd reciprocal (ULANZ and Ara) borrowers and external/subscription members can now sign in to their library catalogue account via single sign on.
The first time you sign in you may get an Open Athens choice of login screen, with an option for UC staff, students and faculty OR Registered External Library Users.
From there:
- UC users will be directed to UC's Microsoft single sign on to sign in with their UC email address (postgraduates with @pg.canterbury usernames use the format username@uclive.ac.nz), UC IT account password, and your set MFA method
- External users will be prompted to sign in with library barcode and PIN.
You can use the set/reset pin link in the sign in screen to do this if you haven't set a PIN already.

UC users - if you are already signed in to other UC apps via Microsoft single sign (e.g. Outlook email, Teams), or are signed in to access library full-text e-resources the library account login process will automatically sign you in with your account. If you are using a shared device we advise you to use an incognito/private browser window to make sure you get signed in to your account and logout and close the browser window when you have finished.
If you are using old bookmarked library account links pointing to https://libcat.canterbury.ac.nz/MyResearch you may see the error message below. If you get this message, click on the login button beneath the message and you should be signed in. Also update any bookmarks you have to https://libcat.canterbury.ac.nz/MyResearch/UserLogin
